Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! It's about 20 minutes until midnight on Christmas eve, and I am not done with Christmas shopping. It's alright...we won't be celebrating until Saturday, so I've got a few days to get everything I need. We'll see if I get some bargains at the after-Christmas sales. Tomorrow, I'll enjoy a nice meal with most of my family, but turkey and dressing is going to be reserved for when we are all together on Saturday. This year brings home the reality that holidays aren't really about the calendar day, but rather, they are about the celebration and meaning of the day as well as people that you spend it with. So, celebrating on Saturday isn't a big deal for me. Anyway, for those of you that are celebrating tomorrow, I hope you have a wonderful holiday filled with much joy.

Two questions

1. If you knew that you were going to die soon (let's say in a month), what would you do - how would your life change?

2. If you knew that Jesus was coming soon (let's say in a month), what would you do - how would your life change?

For me, I think the answers to those two questions ought to be similar, right? Yet the first one leads me to answers that fulfill my earthly wishes and desires while the second leads me to answers that have me living a "more Christian" life. The first question leads me to want to do things that are fun, try new experiences, and live life to the fullest. The second question leads me to be a better servant, a more devout Christian, a more faithful follower. The former is selfish; the latter is selfless. The former is fun; the latter seems (going to be brutally honest) boring. Are there some of y'all out there that answer the above two questions the same? What do you think? Answers - any comments, please - how do y'all deal with this?

Thanks for reading (and answering).
