summer vacation

I am so bored. Seriously! Although I have been working in schools for the past six years (more if you count the detention center), this is the first time that I've had a summer off. To make things even worse, I'm done with all of my coursework for my PhD, so I'm not enrolled in any classes. That is a first since 2000. Highlights of this past week included supervising a practicum course at the university for a couple of hours and getting a new shower curtain. Now, of course I could be working on productive endeavors such as preparing for a presentation I have to give at a conference in a couple of weeks or working on my dissertation, but I've never been one to do what I have to do until I really, really have to do it. Instead I sleep late, watch a lot of TV, work out some (don't laugh), and stay up way past my bedtime. Any suggestions for hobbies I can look into or general ways to not be bored would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

If it weren't for VBS, I'd have absolutely no sense of accomplishment this summer. My big thing today was reorganizing my comic books. Yep, that's high quality time there... Seriously though, enjoy your summer off (the sleeping in and staying up late) -- pretty soon you'll be back at the grindstone and be stuck making schedules and listening to kids whine again. :-)
