Awakenings
I just got through watching the movie Awakenings with Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro. If you haven't seen this movie recently, I would recommend you do so. It is such a great film about not taking life for granted. As I watched it, a couple of things kept going through my head - how we tend not to be grateful for the small things in life that make life exquisite. Many times it takes a tragedy to "shake us" into realizing how much we are truly blessed. That led me to think about how it took the death of one man (a tragedy) to save me. I'm sure God could have devised another plan in order to do this, but he chose to do it in this way. It is because of death, that I have life - a wonderful, forgiven, blessed life.

Good thoughts Mario. I love that movie!
Why does it take the bad and scary to realize the good? Or why do we spend much of our time thinking about the bad and scary when there is so much good around us?
As someone who's guilty of doing it, I'm not sure I have the answer. Maybe the "Happiness Hour" radio show I told you about could help! :) Just kidding...BTW, thanks for the definition of existentialism (?) this morning. I learn something new every day!
Mario...I'm honored that you did the "4 Things" comment on my blog! :) I loved learning about the paperboy and New Orleans. I'm in full agreement on Friends, your mom's tortillas, and Pretty Woman. Thanks so much!
Hey man... It's Matt. I know we haven't chatted in awhile, but if you ever wanted to talk on AIM (cause I noticed you got on AIM) then you can IM me at SupermanforGod. Now, I know it's a cheesy screenname, but I got it when I was in middle school and since then it has become really inconvenient to change the name of it. Anyways, man, it'd be really good to hear from ya. The other day, I was thinking about how I loved Crash so much when it won the Oscars and then I remembered how you were the guy who introduced that movie to us all. Well man, I'm out right now. Peace!
